There are lengthy articles in the 'History of Acton' pertaining to Tozier Lord's part in establishing the Free Will Baptist Church. Elder Lord was Pastor in Athens, Me. in 1825 & 1826". On pg. 7, she continues: "Taken from the 'History of Acton Me.', publ 1847, on file at the N.H. Historical Society in Concord, N.H.: Tozier Lord was born in Berwick in 1744. He married Phebe Door, dau of Philip and Lydia Door - married in Lebanon on the 14th of Sept 1766. In Lebanon, Me. he was ordained a Baptist minister. In 1779 he separated himself from the Baptists, and soon united with Elder Benj. Randall in preaching a general atonement. He then lived in Barrington, N.H. Soon after he moved to Acton. There he planted an orchard. Afterwards he lived at Acton Corner. About the year 1800, he moved away, and after preaching in several places, in 1825 and 1826 preached to the Baptist Church in Athens, Me. He died soon afterwards. From the 'History of N.H.' by Edwin D. Sanborn - 1875: Freewill Baptists originated in 1780 by Elder Benjamin Randall of New Durham. But there is another claimant for the honor; John Shepard, Esq. of Gilmanton, solemnly affirmed near the close of his life, 'that the Freewill system was all opened to his mind by the Spirit of God, months before any other person knew it; that he then revealed it, in Mar 1780, to Elder Edward Locke and Elder Tozier Lord; and with them spent a week locked up in the house owned by Mr. Piper of London, fasting and praying and seeking the will of God'. He also affirmed that they ordained one another; and then went to New Durham and ordained Elder Randall. From this humble origin the number of the denomination has constantly increased. (Tozier Lord - Abraham(4); Samuel(3); Nathan(2); Nathan(1))".

Notes for JONATHAN DORE:

G.W. Chamberlain, in "Soldiers of the American Revolution of Lebanon, Maine" writes: "Jonathan Door of Lebanon, and of Milton, NH, was a son of John and Charity (Wentworth) Door of Lebanon where he was born about 1759. He enlisted in Capt. Caleb Hodgdon's Co. 9 July, 1776. This company was commanded by Capt. Abraham Perkins after 19 Sept., and it belonged to Col. Pierce Long's Reg't, stationed at New Castle, NH. Mr. Door served until 7 Jan'y, 1777 when he received advanced pay for one month at Portsmouth, NH; but refused to march to Ticonderoga with his company, claiming that as he was a citizen of Mass., he was not under the laws of New Hampshire. he was discharged for refusing to march, and again enlisted in May 1777 as a private in Capt. Samuel Grant's Co. of Col. Titcomb's Reg't. He served two months and 18 July, 1777 received pay for services and travelling to and from Rhode Island. When, on 9 Aug., 1777 the General Court issued a draft for able bodied, effective men, the towns of Lebanon and Kittery (including Eliot) furnished one company of 52 men with Elisha Shapleigh as captain, and Jonathan Door as lieutenant. Mr. Hasey wrote on 19 Aug., 1777 'every Sixth Man Draughted to go to war.' Again the Mass. Archives, vol. 37, p. 108, shows his name as private, belonging to Lebanon, in Capt. John Goodwin's Co. 'in a detachment of militia from the County of York under command of Major Daniel Littlefield on an expedition to Penobscott, in compliance with a resolve of the Council of Mass. passed June ye 29, 1779.'. On this expedition, Mr. Door travelled 210 miles. In the autumn of 1779 he enlisted on board the "Ranger;" sailed from Portsmouth to Boston; from Boston the "Ranger" in company with the "Warren" and the "Queen of France" put to sea; sometime later they took a British privateer; and on the day following, came in contact with the "Georgia Fleet". It was under convoy and they took nine or eleven sail of the "Fleet". They returned to Boston and then to Portsmouth where Door was discharged after a service of five months. He served as a marine on the "Ranger", Thomas Simpson, commander. His last enlistment was as a private 9 July, 1780, in Capt. Timothy Emerson's Co. of Col. Thomas Bartlett's Reg't. raised in New Hampshire to join the Continental Army for the defence of West Point. He was discharged 26 OCt., 1780. He returned to Lebanon where on 24 Aug., 1786 he was united in marriage with Rebecca Garland by "Parson" Hasey. In 1786 or 1787 he removed to Milton, NH (then Rochester) where he was residing in 1838 at the age of 79 years.".
